What Happened

The Fantastic Pavilion is returning to the Cannes Marché du Film for its fourth edition. It is launching a new year-round service called The Concierge and introducing the Fantastic Pavilion Vertical Cinema Showcase for 2026, dedicated to emerging mobile-first storytelling and short-form genre content. The Pavilion has established new collaborations with the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival and the Costa Rica Media Market’s Fantastic Lab initiative, and has added new strategic allies including Pressman Film, The Horror Collective, and BloodStream. Filmmaker Xavier Gens is the recipient of this year's Keys to the Pavilion Award.

Why this Matters to You

If you work in the film industry, particularly in genre filmmaking, this expansion may provide new year-round support services and a dedicated platform for emerging formats like vertical cinema. The Pavilion's growth and international partnerships could open more doors for co-productions, sales, and distribution deals. For audiences, the focus on new storytelling formats and genre IP adaptations may lead to more diverse and accessible content in the future.

What's Next

The 2026 edition will host the Vertical Cinema showcase, featuring creators from more than 15 countries, with 12 filmmakers expected to present in person. It will also include industry panels on genre IP and women in genre filmmaking, the third edition of the Genre IP Showcase, the second installment of the Fantastic Round Robin, and the Fantastic Galas and networking events. Two additional adaptation projects originating from previous Pavilion conversations are currently in development.
